One of the most useful cosmetic procedures for hair is a peeling mask. It perfectly cleans the hair and scalp, providing a general health effect and giving the hair an airy lightness.

  • 1. What is useful peeling?
  • 2. When do you need peeling?
  • 3. Peeling in the cabin
  • 4. Salt peeling
  • 5. Useful supplements and folk remedies
  • 6. Recommendations and contraindications

The positive effect of peeling is manifested in the following:

  • complete cleansing of the scalp of grease, flakes and hair care products,
  • getting rid of dandruff, dermatitis, excessive fat content due to exfoliation of the upper layer of the skin, improving blood supply and stimulating the regeneration of skin cells,
  • general improvement of the hair condition due to a more complete supply of nutrients to the roots, as a result - increased growth, strengthening of the roots, getting rid of fragility,
  • improving the tone of the scalp, its oxygenation,
  • mask peeling increases the effectiveness of other medical and cosmetic products, thanks to the deep cleaning of the pores.

When do you need peeling?

The peeling mask is especially useful if the hair has a high fat content, as it helps to clear the skin of greasy deposits.

Normal and dry hair also periodically needs peeling. However, they need to use more benign formulations.

The peeling procedure can be done at any age. It is very useful for young people whose sebaceous glands work hard. Cosmetic hair peeling helps to solve this problem to the full, and it is much more effective than many cosmetic preparations.

Peeling in the cabin

The peeling procedure is quite simple and can be performed independently at home. However, if it is done for the first time, it is better to use the services of a professional cosmetologist.

Under the conditions of the salon, the peeling hair mask is performed using professional cosmetics. Usually it is a mask with the content of fruit acids, gently cleanses the skin and improves blood circulation. The procedure takes a total of no more than an hour.

Main steps:

  1. The beautician divides the wet strands into a parting, and then treats the skin with a warming composition.
  2. Using a special syringe, the composition is applied to the skin. The mask is left for 10-15 minutes. This time is necessary for the restoration of metabolic processes and nutrition of hair follicles.
  3. After the specified time, a head massage is performed using special soap.

Salt peeling

To date, a large number of recipes for cleansing masks for hair and scalp. However, numerous reviews of women systematically applying this procedure indicate that salt peeling for hair is one of the most effective. For it, ordinary or iodized salt of fine and medium grinding is used.

Useful supplements and folk remedies

Salt peeling for hair is useful to perform with the addition of brandy. To prepare the mask you need to mix one glass of salt with a glass of honey and add half a glass of brandy. Before use, insist the resulting composition in a dark place for two weeks.

For the complex effect, it is allowed to mix the salt with other components, including kefir, honey or shampoo. It is recommended to owners of dry hair to add burdock or olive oil to the mixture.

At home, as a basis for peeling, in addition to salt, it is allowed to use other equally effective and affordable means - soda, coffee, oats, clay, and waterspace. However, it should be borne in mind that some of them, as well as salt, can dry out the skin, therefore, to soften, oil, kefir, sour cream, honey should be added to these masks.

One of the most benign remedies is peeling for hair based on olive and cosmetic oils with added sugar. This gentle gruel will provide deep cleaning, without causing increased dryness and irritation.

Recommendations and contraindications

As with any cosmetic procedure, peeling should be performed in accordance with the recommendations of professional cosmetologists. It is very important to avoid various kinds of abuse in order to exclude side effects.
For oily hair, the optimal frequency of the procedure is once a week; for dry hair, the interval between treatments should be at least ten days.

If purchased creams and scrubs are used for the procedure, you should first dilute them with water and only then apply directly to the skin. You must also carefully follow the instructions that come with these cosmetics.

The main contraindication to the peeling is the presence of damage to the scalp, pustules or scratches. It is not recommended to make a peeling mask shortly after perm or dyeing, as well as with increased skin sensitivity.

The procedure is recommended to carry out before washing the head, while the hair is protected by skin fat. In this case, the risk of damage during the procedure is reduced.

What is this?

The skin is a natural biological barrier of the organism, the main function of which is to protect its internal environment from the negative effects of the environment. To perform its function, the skin of the scalp has numerous sebaceous glands that produce a special substance - sebum. Its function is the lubrication of the skin surface, the deposition of dirt and the obstruction of drying.

In other words, it is a kind of lubricant, intended as a barrier to bacteria and other pathogens that seek to get inside the skin.

In a normal natural state, the amount of sebum meets the biological needs of the body. As it is used, it is washed off in the process of hygienic procedures, without clogging the pores and not interfering with skin breathing.

However, at certain times, contributing to the increase in fat formation (hormonal disruptions, negative environmental factors, taking certain medications, unbalanced nutrition, etc.), its amount increases dramatically. The accumulation of fat is not retained on the skin, it is deposited on the hair, giving them a shine.

Dead cells of the epidermis, mixing with it and pollution from the external environment, create unwanted sticking on the skin of the scalp. Such sticking can play a negative role in breathing, nutrition and hair fastening. As a result, they fall out, break off, take an unhealthy look.

How to resist it? It is natural to cleanse the skin of such biological dirt, to enable the physiological processes of epidermis renewal, to help hair follicles and hair bulbs to perform their main function - to provide the hair elements with everything necessary for growth, nutrition, and beautiful appearance.

Peeling - cleansing the skin surface with the help of:

  • Chemical,
  • Mechanical,
  • Physical ways.

What is the difference between them?

Choosing a chemical peel (it is better not to resort to this method at home), undesirable build-ups are dissolved by chemical reactions. Special preparations containing acids react with biological formations, dissolving intermolecular bonds in their structure. In other words, chemical dissolution of unwanted skin contamination occurs with the formation of water, carbon dioxide and other substances that are easily washed off with water.

Mechanical peeling - removing dirt from the surface of the skin by gently massaging, scrubbing, gently peeling without compromising the integrity of the skin.
For these purposes, fine solid particles are used, which, in circular motions on the skin surface, attach dirt molecules, peel them from the living layer of the epidermis and remove them from the surface. The role of such particles can play:

  • Crushed bones (apricot, apple, grape, peach and others),
  • Ground coffee beans,
  • Salt, incl. sea (the smaller, the better),
  • Drinking soda,
  • Synthetic powders - scrubs.

To enhance the effect, these two types of peeling are often actually carried out simultaneously. This speeds up the process and gives a more tangible result.

For example, scalp peeling with salt can be carried out in parallel with the destructive effect on impurities of essential oils or fruit acids.

Physical peeling is carried out using methods such as ultraviolet radiation, quartz effects on the scalp, methods using a laser and other modern technologies that require the participation of a professional specialist and relevant equipment.

How to peel at home?

Finding suddenly appeared dandruff on your scalp, feeling an itch or even pain, noting the increased oily hair, you received a signal that the scalp is waiting for peeling.

Peeling of the scalp at home is simple and affordable. To do this, you can use several methods. The choice between them is made depending on:

  • Hair type
  • Individual skin sensitivity,
  • Personal preferences for the method of application and selection of the necessary components.

The procedure should not be carried out more than once every two weeks. And do not overdo it! The skin of the scalp should not get microtrauma. In this case, the gates open for infection and suppurative processes.

The impact should be neat, soft, gentle, but effective.

Salt scrub

Finely ground sea salt will do. Large crystals will cause discomfort with the application and can injure the skin.

There are several variants of such peeling:

  1. Salt diluted with water to a state of gruel,
  2. Mixed in equal quantities with a hair balm of the appropriate type,
  3. Mixed with rye bread swollen in water
  4. With honey,
  5. Rubbed with yolk eggs,
  6. Mixed with oil, such as sea buckthorn, olive,
  7. With a few drops of essential oil,
  8. With lemon juice and other.

Enumerate can be infinite. But the main thing to remember: the main active component is salt, all other participants are additions to specify the type of skin and enhance the cleansing effect.

Coffee is not only a delicious drink.

Lovers of a cup of coffee is easy after each reception to put off the gruel thick and dry it. When you accumulate about 50 grams of such a product, you can make a peeling of the head with natural coffee. The size of the milled particles is so consistent with the rules of the procedure that such a peeling was loved by many. It is soft, painless, effective.

By applying circular ground moistening of coffee, wetted with water or cream, to the treated areas of the scalp, you remove the hardened contaminants, exfoliate dead skin cells, release the outlets of the pores for breathing.

Such a composition is slightly worse than saline, but the result is worth it.

Sweet life for your hair ...

To carry out the cleansing procedure for the scalp and can be using crushed granulated sugar. For this purpose, it is worthwhile to take cane sugar, since it is healthier, although more expensive.
Grinding its particles in a coffee grinder almost to the powder, they can be mixed with oatmeal soaked in milk or buckwheat flakes soaked in milk. The mixture will be a little soapy and pleasant to the touch.

Its application to the scalp will give them a few minutes of enhanced nutrition, enrichment with beneficial components, moisturizing.

Sugar scrubbing will be enjoyable, since the flakes will provide a full slip and access to the most difficult places to reach.

Basic rules for peeling the head

A full head can be combined with its regular washing, or it can be carried out separately, at a time specially set aside for the care of its appearance.

In any case, before applying the selected product, it is better to moisturize and comb the hair evenly. Before you begin to scrub, make sure that the skin is not damaged, microcracks, burns, insect bites. Otherwise, irritation and re-injury may occur.

Rubbing gently using the pads of your fingers. Nails should not protrude too much for the code roller, otherwise scratches are inevitable.

Do not rotate the hair too much against the direction of their growth. In such a case, the processes of precipitation and breaking can be triggered.

Prepare the rinse water in advance. It should not be too cold or too hot. Extraordinary rushes of blood are not needed. The skin should be allowed to calm down and relax.

Peels - a relatively new, modern direction of skin care. But it quickly gained popularity and became popular. Learn the techniques of its holding and let your hair be healthy.

Healing facilities in the cabin

In the salon, hair peeling is done by professionals: they treat the scalp with lotion that improves blood circulation, and then gently, in partings, apply a special agent - as a rule, with fruit acids and extracts that have antioxidant properties. After 5-10 minutes, the composition is washed off with a special shampoo and a little essential oil is applied to the skin to prevent irritation and stimulate the cell repair process. The whole procedure takes approximately 50 minutes.

Such peels are useful for seborrhea, strong hair loss and even beginning baldness, with dry and weak hair, split ends, for women who often dye their hair or do a perm. However, from time to time - on average once a month, peeling is recommended for anyone who wants to improve the appearance of hair and maintain their health. True, not everyone can visit salons regularly, therefore hair peeling can and should be done at home: There are many recipes, and you can always choose suitable means for yourself, especially since they are made up of the simplest ingredients.

What do you need for home peeling?

What tools are used for peeling hair at home? Salt and sugar, soda and ground coffee are often used, but care is needed here: peeling with such ingredients can damage the skin and provoke irritation.

Peeling hair sea salt

For salt peeling for hair, it is better to take sea salt, but it should be finely ground in a coffee grinder or blender, you can do this peeling twice a month - from 4 to 8 procedures are required. Ground salt is mixed with castor, burdock or olive oil, add essential oil by hair type (for oily, orange, tea tree, rosemary, for dry and fine, lavender, ylang-ylang, etc.), apply the mixture on the scalp , dividing the hair into strands, gently massage the head for a few minutes, and carefully wash everything off with your shampoo. Peeling removes greasiness, cleanses the skin and improves blood circulation, after which the hair becomes docile and soft. With sensitive skin and very dry hair, it is better to refuse salt peeling.

How to make sugar peeling hair

Approximately the same, but 3 times a month, is done peeling with sugar. Brown sugar is preferable, as it contains many minerals and other substances that are beneficial to the skin and hair. Sugar is mixed with hair oil, a few drops of essential oil and herbal-based shampoo. The mixture is applied to the scalp, massaged for about 5 minutes and washed off.

Use coffee grounds

Coffee grounds for hair peeling can be used without additives, and you can mix it with olive oil - the skin is well cleaned of fat and dirt. Other composition: mix 1 tbsp. ground coffee with 1 tbsp. milk, and add a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Apply, as described above, 1-2 times per month. The owners of dry and brittle hair, as well as blondes, such a peeling will not work.

Folk recipes for hair peeling

For home hair peeling, you can use different compositions of ordinary food.

Grinded oatmeal with oil (or even water) is a great recipe for cleansing, softening and nourishing the scalp - such a peeling is suitable for sensitive skin.

You can finely grind raw rice, mix it with kefir, heavy cream or sour cream - this is also an excellent cleansing and nourishing mixture. Also, instead of rice, you can take dry grated lemon or orange zest.

The recipe for orange juice (1 tsp) and sour apple (1 tbsp) helps to get rid of seborrhea. If at the same time the volume of the hairstyle is lost quickly, and the hair falls out, you should use a slightly heated mixture: apply on the scalp and hair, massage for 3-5 minutes, hold for another 7-10 minutes and rinse with water without shampoo.

Perfectly dissolves and removes peeling pollution with natural honey, mixed with olive and essential oils.

The best and safest peeling for sensitive skin is made according to an old recipe - from rye bread crusts. The crust of bread is soaked, mashed into a gruel, applied to the scalp and gently massaged for several minutes. Wash your head with warm water without shampoo, if you repeat the procedure 3-4 times a month, your hair will soon become thicker, more elastic and silky.

Pharmaceutical vitamins should be added to homemade peeling masks: A, E, D - oil solutions in capsules.

Little about professional tools

Not everyone has free time even to quickly make a homemade composition for hair peeling. You can buy professional tools: a lot of them - from super expensive imported to all affordable domestic ones. There are options for the purchase of peelings with an optimal ratio of "price-quality": having studied the reviews, you can choose an acceptable means for yourself.

The Japanese Reibi Utena gel peeling contains fruit extracts and glycolic acid. After its application, the pores of the scalp are well cleaned, dead cells are removed, the skin is nourished, and the hair begins to grow better.

German product from Wella, Remove Shampeeling - is a shampoo-peeling for the hair, intended for the treatment of dandruff: it has a pronounced antibacterial effect. It can be used regularly, 2-3 times a week, as usual shampoo.

Indications and Contraindications

  • Hair peeling is suitable for all hair types and has no restrictions on the patient's age.
  • Peeling for young hair is especially recommended, since at a young age hormone acid release to the surface of the scalp, blocking its pores, is significantly higher than at a more solid age.

The main stages of the procedure

Hair peeling is carried out in several stages:

  • Moisturizing hair. Before starting the procedure, it is necessary to rinse the hair well in order to clean the skin from excessive dirt that will slow down the process of absorbing the peeling composition.
  • Applying to the surface of the scalp and hair of the therapeutic composition, and the subsequent massage of the scalp with finger pads in the area of massage lines. The total duration of such a massage is at least half an hour.
  • Surface treatment of the skin with special masks and shampoos that have healing and regenerating effects on the hair and scalp.

Applying to the surface of the scalp and hair therapeutic composition

The composition of the masks includes various therapeutic and vitamin complexes that provide additional nutrition and cleansing the scalp surface. The main component of the masks is vitamin D, which activates metabolic processes in cells and has a general therapeutic effect on the body.

The total duration of the procedure takes no more than an hour. Peeling of the scalp is recommended not more than two or three times a week.

At home, peeling hair can be done with salt. It is necessary to mix 2-5 tablespoons of sea salt with warm water before the formation of a slurry. And rub into the scalp for 10 minutes. After that, leave for another 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Once a week is enough to ensure a positive effect of such a procedure on the hair and scalp.

Salt peeling for hair

After the procedure

The results of hair peeling are:

  • Improving the nutrition of the hair roots
  • Improving the overall structure of the hair
  • The disappearance of split ends of hair
  • Scalp toning
  • Saturation of the scalp surface with oxygen, improves the "breathing" of cells
  • Acceleration of hair growth
  • Hair looks smooth, soft, shine with healthy shine

Scalp peeling result

After the scalp peeling has been completed, you should follow the following hair care guidelines:

  • Comb your hair no more than two or three times a day so as not to damage their structure.
  • Wash hair with warm water 2-3 times a week
  • Do not expose the hair to sudden temperature changes (high fever or cold)
  • Use hair masks, shampoos and other cosmetics for your hair type only.
  • It is not recommended to dry the hair with a hairdryer or curling iron, as they dry out the hair, which can lead to the appearance of split ends.

Why do you need scalp peeling?

Every day our hair is exposed to the harmful effects of external factors. Dust and dirt from the street settles on the head, cosmetics accumulate on the hair and the skin surface, hyperproduction of the sebaceous glands leads to clogging of the pores. As a result, metabolic processes in the skin are disturbed, and the hair becomes dull, losing vitality, and grows more slowly.

Peeling from the English word "to peel" ("peel") involves the removal of dead skin cells of the epidermis from the skin surface. Scientifically, this process is called "exfoliation." The principle of peeling for hair and scalp is the same as that of a similar procedure for the face and body.

With regular cleansing, the sebaceous glands function is normalized, itching and other unpleasant sensations are eliminated. Exfoliation accelerates the regeneration of the scalp, activates cell metabolism, stimulates skin tone, improves nutrition and blood supply to the hair follicles. Peeling with certain components has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects, eliminates excessive oily scalp, removes toxins, stimulates hair growth.

  • removal of dead cells, dust, dirt, excess sebum, residues of cosmetics from the surface of the head,
  • ensuring the penetration of beneficial substances contained in masks, scrubs, balsams, to the follicles. After peeling, cosmetic and medicinal products for hair act many times more effectively,
  • improving blood circulation and increasing the flow of oxygen to the roots, which stimulates the growth of new hair.

Girls who regularly do such a procedure at home or in the salon note that their hair stays clean longer and, in general, they notice an improvement in the quality of the curls, the cessation of loss and active growth of new hairs, a feeling of lightness and freshness.

Varieties of peeling

There are several types of exfoliation, which are applied, including, to the scalp:

  • mechanical - abrasive scrubbing,
  • chemical - acid peeling (glycolic, salicylic, lactic, almond, etc.),
  • hardware - in relation to the scalp carry out such procedures as gas-liquid and galvanic peeling.

Mechanical cleaning involves the use of compounds with natural abrasives, which provide exfoliation.

If we talk about chemical peeling, then only superficial cleansing is applied to the scalp. In order not to damage the hair follicles, preparations with a low concentration of active acids are used. A weak acid solution gently exfoliates the keratinized cells from the surface, without penetrating into the deep layers.

Gas-liquid peeling is a contactless procedure in which exposure occurs with the help of compressed gas and liquid in the form of a therapeutic solution. The method is based on the use of high-speed two-phase flow of medical gas (carbon dioxide and oxygen) and a fine liquid. In addition to peeling and cleansing, the beneficial effect of the procedure is achieved by jet massage under pressure, cryotherapy and oxygenation. Jet gas-liquid skin treatment is suitable for those who wish to have no-injection mesotherapy. For this procedure, vitamins, peptides, hyaluronic acid or antibiotics are used.

Galvanic peeling - a procedure that combines the effects of galvanic current with peeling sera. It is carried out with a special comb with electrode-teeth on the composition previously applied to the skin.

Professional peels

To date, many well-known cosmetic brands produce various professional peels for the scalp. The composition of the funds may include ANA-acids, natural oils and extracts. Means for peeling are available in the form of creams, mousses, gels. They can be freely purchased at a beauty salon, in specialized stores or in a pharmacy and can be used independently at home.

Modern dermatological peels for the scalp are not only a means of chemical exfoliation, but are also used in the prevention and correction of seborrhea, hair loss and other problems. That is why peeling in salons and trichological clinics engaged in the treatment and restoration of hair, is often used to prepare the skin for the effects of more specialized care, such as mesotherapy.

How do peeling for the head and hair in the salon

You can enroll in a chemical peeling procedure for the head in a salon or a cosmetology clinic with a trichology department. In the clinic, the trichologist will initially diagnose the scalp and hair condition.

Depending on the type of skin of the client and the existing problem, the specialist will select the optimal preparation for chemical exfoliation at the desired concentration. The composition is applied on partings on wet and clean scalp and hair roots, for which you first wash your hair with neutral shampoo. After 5-15 minutes put neutralizer. Then the hair is washed and dried with a hairdryer.

The specialist can offer a mask for your hair type for the final stage. Perhaps a combination of the procedure with a head massage.

As a rule, salon procedures are recommended to conduct a course. If you do not want to spend money and time on visiting salons, such care can be done at home.

Home Peeling Recipes

There is nothing easier than to prepare a peeling for the scalp at home. The easiest way to quickly cleanse the scalp of dirt and sebum is to use sea salt, which is rich in various microelements: iodine, calcium, iron, sodium, zinc, etc. But other abrasive components can be used: table salt, sugar, coffee, soda . So that peeling does not cause irritation and dryness, softening and moisturizing ingredients such as oil, kefir, egg yolks, etc. are added to the scrub. The scalp with this cleansing will simultaneously receive nourishment.

Cleansing the skin with scrubs at home does not require large financial expenditures, does not take much time, is technically very simple.

  • for salt peeling, choose finely ground salt, because large fractions can severely scratch the skin. Coarse salt can be crushed in a blender or coffee grinder,
  • apply peeling only on wet hair and only in the root zone,
  • wash your hair after peeling, not before it,
  • if the composition of the home scrub includes nutritional components, after the massage it can be left on the hair as a mask for 10-15 minutes with warming with a hat and a towel,
  • for oily hair, the optimal frequency of the procedure is 2 times a month, for dry hair, it is enough to scrub once a month,
  • Count the number of ingredients for home scrub, depending on their hair length.

Be careful: the dyed hair from the scrub can lose the brightness of the color, for them it is better to use purchased peels.

Recipe 1. With salt

  • 1 tbsp. l finely ground sea salt
  • water
  • 3 drops of essential oil

Combine sea salt and water at room temperature in a ratio of 1: 1, mix to the consistency of liquid sour cream. Instead of water, you can use hair balm, prefer natural balm. Add a few drops of essential oil suitable for your problem. For example, lavender, lemon, tea tree oil is recommended for oily hair and dandruff, jasmine, chamomile or rose oil is suitable for dry hair. Apply the mixture gently over the parting, and then massage the skin for a few minutes. After that, wash your hair in the usual way.

Recipe 2. With sugar

  • 1 tsp Sahara
  • ½ tsp olive oil

Mix the ingredients and massage the scalp for a few minutes, then rinse.

Recipe 3. With clay

  • 3 tbsp. l salt finely ground
  • 2 tbsp. l any clay for example blue
  • 1 tbsp. l Water

Combine salt and clay and add water to the container. The resulting mixture with massage movements applied to the scalp, then washed off.

Recipe 4. With coffee

  • 2 tsp. coffee grounds
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp liquid honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Apply a mixture of these ingredients to the scalp with massaging movements. Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse with warm water and organic shampoo. For the preparation of such a scrub, you can use coffee grounds, coffee cake or ground coffee. Thick and cake have a softer delicate effect.

Please note: coffee is a natural dye, so blonde girls are recommended to choose another scrub in order to avoid darkening of the roots.

There are many other recipes for homemade hair peeling. Choose the one that you like best, or invent your own: the main thing is to dilute the abrasive with liquid (water, herbal teas, green tea, mineral water); to any recipe, you can add a few drops of the essential oil that suits your problem.

To consolidate the effect, use high-quality cosmetics for hair, preferably with the most natural composition. For example, shampoo, balsam and a mask for care can be selected in the ALERANA® line. Shampoos and balm to strengthen the hair contain natural oils and extracts, growth stimulants, as well as other useful components necessary for nutrition and hair restoration, the effectiveness of which has been proven by clinical studies. The ALERANA® mask is an intensive diet, enriched with wheat proteins, plant extracts, jojoba oil, nourishes and heals hair follicles and hair along the entire length.

Cleansing the scalp while nourishing and restoring hair will give the best results!
